Soulcalibur IV may require Hard Drive to play [UPDATED]

Soulcalibur IV may require Hard Drive to play [UPDATED]
Written Wednesday, July 02, 2008 by Jdm Jeff

It's rumor time again and it seems as if an HDD is required to play Soul Calibur IV. Now it's been stated that the PS3 version may need a 6.5GB HDD installation, but what about the 360? The folks over at Kotaku did not get a response from Reps over at Namco Bandai in regards to the hard drive requirements. So I guess for the meanwhile, you may want to invest in an HDD for your Xbox 360.

[Update : So it looks like the good folks over at Microsoft messed up. The page has now been updated to reflect the fact that the game actually doesn't need a hard drive.]

I think it is pretty dumb because some people don't have hard drives, but most do. Unless the save for SC4 is going to be too big for the memory cards.

It should be a law to have a HDD.. Not having one is like having a 56k modem for your 360.

this reminds me, i should really buy a new hardrive. 1.6 gigs wont hold me for long.
but yea even the most casual of fan has one by now, memory cards dont hold shit.

The reason for the hard drive is more than likely the created fighters. With all the detail and such it will probably take up more space then a normal memory card has.

Agreed all 360 owners should have a HDD even tho they are over priced i want the 120gb but for £120 is just daft when that would get me a TB for my pc

Really, you need a hard drive for a fighting game? Someone didn't learn how to compress.

Anyway they updated it. Kotaku updated it, xbox.com no longer says HDD required.

Jdm Jeff, u know its theft to take word for word other peoples reports and put them as your own... if you are gonna write news for this site, have the decency to changew the damn words so that when people click your links to to your source they dont need to read teh same article.

Eventually it'll be better for games to require hard drives, it's going to happen sometime. No problem with this, if the game's better for it, then hard drive requirements aren't a problem.

but a hard drive is somewhat fragile, and not as compact as a memory card.

@6 unless your being sarcastic, people who play on a xbox 360 arcade model those don't have HDD, it's basically designed for people who can't afford premium lol But I agree having a 360 without a HDD is quite pointless, It's basically like a Wii but with no memory space.

Wednesday, July 02, 2008 @ 04:30:46 PM

Well not alot of people can afford a HDD, I know when I got my 1st 360 I went for the core model and had to buy a memory card seperatly, the problem is MS charge way to much for there HDDs...

Wow. These comments are amazing. Most people do have hard drives right now. So, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Comment #14: Some people are just happy to have a game system today. And, perhaps that's all their parents, or they could afford. Not all people are as fortunate as most of the people on this thread/board.

This is completely false, I received a memo about this today at work. And i Quote " A recent rumor has been floating around the internet about the requirement of a hard drive for Soul-Calibur 4 on xbox360. It has been assured to us by the vendor this is in fact not true and please inform the customer of this during their reservation process". Just another rumor. This memo also included a 10$ price up on fable 2 special edition. It's will now be $79.99 instead of $69.99.

A memory card can only hold a few game saves and maybe some arcade games. It is only for you to transfer game saves between consoles, not for you to save your whole damn library to it. You must have at least the 20GB HDD to game with satisfaction. With the memory card, I guarantee that most of the people who have one has to erase game saves for their different games or only has one or two games.

I have a 120GB HDD from a seller. It is hardly full even when i download whatever i find free on the marketplace. I don't suggest anyone to get it at full price, get it if you find a good deal. I got mine for 108 shipping included, which was a great deal.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
